Herman de Groot bought his first drumset at the age of 17. He had never sat behind a drumset before that time, but he thought it to be a cool instrument. This was set in motion by te drummer of Queen, Roger Taylor. He thought the way Roger sat behind the drumset was really cool, and Herman wanted that as well.
Soon after that moment Herman joined several bands and accompanied some gospel groups.
His first real band was the heavy bluesrock band Spiritus. This band existed from 1997 until 2003. After that he joined several band for a short period until he joined UKE22, where he now has a lot of fun playing the drums.
